Ten rashis out of twelve are in no dhaiya at all right now. You will rarely read that plainly, because an article promising something for every sign travels further than one telling most of its readers to carry on as normal.
Dhaiya Has Two Jobs, and Reports Rarely Say Which
The word descends from dhai, two and a half. It attaches to any Saturn stint of roughly that length, and the trouble is that two very different stints qualify.
Used strictly, a dhaiya is Saturn crossing the fourth or eighth sign from the Moon. That transit stands alone. It is not a piece of Sade Sati and it does not lead into one. The fourth-sign case is kantaka shani, the thorn underfoot; the eighth-sign case is ashtama shani, which carries the heavier reputation of the pair.
Used loosely, dhaiya labels each of the three 2.5-year phases inside Sade Sati, so a Meena Moon in the peak is, by that reckoning, in her second dhaiya. Both usages are old and both are in print. One report can therefore tell you that you are in a dhaiya while another tells you that you are not, and neither has made a mistake.
My rule when a client brings me a report: ignore the word, check the geometry. If Saturn sits in the fourth or eighth from your Moon, the standalone dhaiya is what is meant. Should it sit in the twelfth, first or second, the report means a phase of Sade Sati, and the Sade Sati guide is where the phases and their traditional effects are set out.

Shani dhaiya for Dhanu rashi (Sagittarius)
Meena is the fourth sign from Dhanu, so Sagittarius Moons have carried kantaka shani since March 29, 2025. Saturn leaves on June 3, 2027, reverses back in on October 19 the same year, and clears the sign for good on February 23, 2028. No clean single word exists. The nearest plain rendering is the Saturn period, meaning the stretch while Saturn crosses a sensitive rashi measured from your birth Moon. Badi is big, choti is small, and the sizes refer to the length of the transit rather than the severity of anything.
One warning about the other sense of the word. In everyday Marathi and Hindi speech, panoti or panauti has drifted well away from astrology and now works as a term for a jinx, the person who turns up just as things go wrong. Cricket crowds use it that way constantly. That usage says nothing about anyone's chart, and it is worth separating from the astrological term before you read a comment thread about it.

Nothing hands over this year. Saturn crosses no rashi boundary between January and December 2026, so no sign enters or leaves a dhaiya inside the calendar year. What 2026 does contain is a retrograde. Saturn stations retrograde on July 26, 2026 at 18:50 UTC and turns direct again on December 10 at 21:42 UTC, both events falling inside Meena. A reversal inside a sign changes nothing about who holds the transit. Same planet, same rashi, travelling backwards through a stretch of it before covering the ground again. Dhanu and Simha keep the dhaiya start to finish.

Two notes on that. The handovers are not clean, since Saturn reverses back into Meena between October 19, 2027 and February 23, 2028, which returns the transit to Dhanu and Simha for four months after they had reason to think it finished. And the gaps between dhaiyas for any single Moon sign are long. A Mesha Moon waits until Saturn reaches Karka on July 13, 2034 for a fourth-house dhaiya, running to August 28, 2036, then waits again until December 12, 2043 for the eighth-house one.
